Competition Task

You can work by yourself or in a group (maximum four students per group).

You are to produce a video advertisement (no more than 2 minutes in length) which delivers at least one key message about workplace rights and promotes the 'Young people at work' website. Remember often LESS is MORE!

The audience for your video will be young people aged between 14-20 years.

Please be as creative as possible. You can use humour and maybe some acting skills. You might even want to compose your own music or song as a backdrop to the video.

The video advertisement MUST mention:

  • the 'Know the deal' branding/logo in some way (this brand appears on the home page of the 'Young people at work' website).
  • the Web address – www.youngpeopleatwork.nsw.gov.au
  • at least one key message about workplace rights covered on the 'Young people at work' website that young people need to know when starting work.

Judging criteria

The judges will take into account:

  • How creatively and originally the video promotes the 'Young people at work' (YP@W) website.
  • How clearly the video conveys one or more messages about workplace rights that can be learnt on the YP@W website.
  • How well the video communicates to a youth audience.
